Scared of Kumeyaay Indian ghosts. Note to self: do not discuss these sorts of things near bedtime anymore.
All about our inspired and half crazy decision to move from the Midwest (where we have all lived our whole lives) to San Diego. Where we have spent a collective 200 hours.

Who is scared, Don or Sarah?
I looked up those Kumeyaays... they seem pretty nice. Sounds like they were all over the San Diego area.
Maybe it's the teacher in me... but maybe it would help Sarah's fears if she did a little research on the Kumeyaay. Maybe that would demystify them and make it less scary. (Though, then again, maybe it would just make her dreams more vivid.)
How, how, how, UGH.
It was Don. Scares easily.

Why do I have the urge to write a lesson plan? You can take the girl out of the NYT Learning Network, but you can't take the NYT Learning Network out of the girl...
She had a huge unit on the American Indian and chose the Kumeyaay to study... she and Don made a Kumeyaay village and they really got into it.
I think when you are 9, even the nicest ghostie in the world is still a ghost. I have tried to impress upon her that clearly if we have a ghost -- which is even more of a leap of faith than thinking that I am in fact losing my mind -- it's a nice ghost who didn't want me to suffer with my teeth grinding.
Didn't help. Still a ghost.
